What i think is it seemed like he was a Super Saiyan 2. After his own blast because of his Saiyan Cells gave him that energy. from killing Goku.

I dont really like thinking of cell in terms of being a saiyan because i see him as having saiyan characteristics, but not having saiyan heritige.

Yes and no. He only displayed two Super Saiyan characteristics. He had a Super Saiyan aura for most of his 17/Pikkoro fight, half the time during the fight against 16, and a Super Saiyan 2 aura for the entire battle against Gohan. And he had a power increase though not as large as either Super Saiyan or Super Saiyan 2.

Yes, he is (in my view) - the auras he gains whilst achieving and linking his states of power to new levels of power (completely new, that he's unearthed, in 'realm' of that) reflect the such, as does the way he transforms and displays all kinds of Super Saiyan auras - from a regular variation to the mastery of the state to Super Saiyan 2 and dancing shots of lightning. If you scrutinize his own aforementioned aura in comparison to Goku's and others, you'll notice traits that seem nigh identical - I would say given that he is 2/5ths Saiyan, that it's not out there.
He is, after all, again, supposed to be a fighter that is not flawed in power nor judgment and thinking. I think Dr. Gero's structure reflects that (also in his sinister and 'omnipresent threat looming over the horizon' style qualities to him - all reflected in both his Seiyuu and FUNimation dub VA), though he seemed to jest too much and never seemed earnest about destroying the earth, as though he was some juvenile teenager to go ahead and build his own Cell Game in a rather sadistic and torturous way (that's hinted to when he says he'll methodically slaughter every single human being... but then again, if you want to talk out of character and sordid observations, think Boo Saga Characterizations and Goku being mistaken for not having a lust for power or a pure heart, when the antithesis is augured and hinted to in Early Dragonball and in the Boo Saga, [even if Saiyan natural savagery may have to do with that] which makes it that much more mysterious the notion).

But, yes - I would say Cell is a 'Super Saiyan', 'Mastered Super Saiyan', 'Pseudo-Super Saiyan Type 3', and 'Super Saiyan 2'. In his Complete state, all of the aforesaid, to be clear.

You should really add more to your posts...

I feel that Cell, yes, indeed caried out most of the chararistics of a Super Saiyan. But he also had the charactaristiscs of a Namekian, Changling, and Android. To say that all of his genes come from a Saiyan is wrong. He is Cell, the ultimate android created by Dr. Gero. He contains the cells of the Z fighters and all the other great villans they have encountered.

He is part Saiyan, artifically of course, but also much more. So all together, he is Cell.

Sorry about the limited post. But here's my opinoin.

I am separated on this one. Super Saiyan is a transformation, and Cell does not transform (well, not like Saiyans do anyway), but his energy appearence is identicle to a Super Saiyan. Let's see if I can convince myself of one thing or another.

....When it all comes down to it, I will have to say, Yes. Cell is a Super Saiyan. But a mutated one. His genetic composition makes him half Saiyan, like Gohan for example. He however posesses DNA that makes him incapable of displaying the fundamental physical traits of a Super Saiyan. Like hair and eyes.

But then again, the legend never actually stated anything about the Super Saiyan's appearence. It simply stated what the power was.

Cell is part Saiyan because of his DNA. So that golden aura he has indicates that he does have access to Super Saiyan powers. And more proof of that is when he comes back from his near death experience he says that he powered up like Son Gohan and he has all the electricity along with it. That's the power of an SSj2 that he had attained. So yes, he is one. But, he's also other things...like a human, an Android, a Changeling, etc.

You could say cell is a super saiyan in his forms because of his aura and because of his saiyan dna. So I guess you could say he is Super Saiyan andriod hybrid

Well, he isn't a "real" super saiyan... he just inherited part of the saiyan cells, so therefore he is like a copy of a SSJ with their powers and abilites.
