sloth is right. goku even said to gohan(not exact quote, dont feel like looking at manga): no your just raising your power. rage awakes it! training non-stop, is just raising your power level. the only way to go ssj is with rage.

I think Goku mastered it in the Hyperbolic Time chamber. That seems realistic.

It just seems so wierd to me that they wouldn't explain it. Also, is there actually any proof that Vegeta could go SSJ2 before he was Majin? On another note, I wish AT made SSJ2 more distinct so as to avoid all this confusion.

I don't think there is any real way to answer your questions... so it's just speculation...
there were many years that were missed out after the cell games... but i have a theory... Since Goten and Trunks were able to go SSJ when they were very young, perhaps it is more of a biological change that happens when you first go SSJ. That also explains why Future Trunks needed exteme rage to go SSJ. In the alternate future Vegeta had not gone SSJ. In the regular timeline Trunks became SS at a much younger age. So, what I am saying is that when Goku and Vegeta, pure sajyins, go SSJ for the first time, because of an emotional need, i.e. to beat Freiza, they alter their DNA in some way. This would explain why it was so easy for Goten and Trunks to go SSJ but not for Gohan. So.. perhaps going SSJ for the first time is the biggest push and everything after that is slightly more adapted to the power of SSJ. Level 1 is the major building block, and the potential is there, to build SS up by how much you train. So you if you work hard enough at it you can reach SSJ2 SSJ3 then well... So. IN short, perhaps, after going SSJ for the first time, you can reach SSJ2 much eaiser becasue it is just an extension of SSJ... you still need rage, just not as much of it, because your DNA has already been altered. *Knows this is a long post* The other answer is that perhaps SSJ is entirely dependant on the individual and that each individual shows their level of SS in a different way, and that to drop each person into a category of SSJ is absurd because each sayjin, although following similar guidelines, develops differently... or maybe I'm just talking B/S... but it's just my opinion... don't crucify me for that... |

Yes, he was an SSJ in the alternate timeline. But basically I look at it this way: If they child is conceived before the saiyan has gone SSJ, the will need to reach the SSJ level by rage with a high power level. If the child was conceived after the saiyan went SSJ, then the child will have an easy time going SSJ. In the alternate timeline Vegeta was an SSJ, but he must have become one after trunks was conceived. In the regular timeline, Trunks must have been conceived after Vegeta was an SSJ. Obviously Goten was conceived after Goku became an SSJ.
Anyway, this is off topic, so I would like to stay away from this discussion from now on. Oh, and Sylvia, they show that Vegeta was an SSJ when they are showing how all the Z Warriors died at the hands of the Androids. Vegeta was fighting as an SSJ. |

Sorry El Diablo. You were very right.
I thought it related to your questions just a little Mr Squallsoft... because it showed that perhaps a DNA change happens when they go SSJ that allows them to go SSJ2 etc... I'm going with the individual being at the heart of the SSJ2 mystery. It's different for all... but i guess, it's too long a theory to dance around... sorry... |

Errr, I just looked at the fight, (in the manga of course) and Vegeta has electricity in EVERY panel. Now, having electricity the whole time would mean he was an SSJ2 against Kid Buu.

Its actually quite interesting how the younger saiyans become SSJ at a younger age than the saiyans older than them. Eg: Goten younger than Gohan. and Gohan younger than Goku. Also Goku Jr is able to go SSJ at a very young age and he's only 1/16th saiyan |
