you can tell, when he's 16 he even looks older. if you've seen history of trunks, then you'll know that trunks was 16 when he went to the past, and he waited for three years, makes him 19....then he went into hyperbolic time chamber, for a year, so he's 20, and that mean that the present trunks, is still only about a year old. and i'm sure that goten is about 8 years old in the buu saga, and trunks was what? 1 or 2 years older than goten? |

but he became three years older! three years past after ttrunks tells goku about the androids! trunks comes back after three years, he's 19, he goes into the hyberbolic tiume chamber with vegeta, stays there for one year. then goes back to the future and we don't really see him again after that. so sure he goes into the future but that doesn't stop him from ageing.
