Kaioshins and the Z-Sword

How come the Kaioshins couldn't lift the Z-Sword? Both Dai Kaioshin and South Kaioshin were strong enough to stand up against Buff Buu more than SSJ Gohan could of.

Well Gohan went Super Saiyan 2 to lift the sword (anime-I don't remember if that's true in the manga).

Not to be impetuous, but what exactly is in question here? It's by Kibito's own admittion:

(Volume 23, Page 164): "You can't be serious!! A mortal, use the sword?! How many Lords of Lords, how many gods, have tried and failed to wield it?!"

Said statement is only validated by:

(Volume 26, Page 80): Rou Kaioshin: "...And Boo turned into that muscle man we just saw?"

'Kibitoshin': "...Yes... two were killed quickly... the Gods of the North and West... Then the strongest, the Burly God of The South... was the next to go..."
Yet Gohan could, and Kibito has something to unbound and dislodge on the matter, in my recollection....
(Volume 23, Page 169): "They say you will gain tremendous power... perhaps even enough to surpass Boo."
No one 'Kaioshin' could really 'stand up' to any incarnation of Boo with the amount of... not toned down output at that circumstance. Nor could even a rather gutsy SSj2 Possessed or 'Majin' Vegeta.... he didn't help immensely. Infact, it lucidly took Goku activating the power the form that is SSj3 wields and displays and accessing just that in order to 'stand up' to the fat Incarnation of Boo, however stronger he may have been (and holding back on a sense of the term).
And in response to SuperVegetto3's post... there are no finger-tip sparks flicking or no bolts of lightning dancing around Gohan's aura when it flares up, so I'm going to go with the assumption that he was at MSSj.

Firstly, none of the Kaioshins could stand up to any form of Boo at all. It was stated the Southern Kaioshin was the strongest. But not on a level to compete with Chibi Boo.
Secondly, "Buff Boo" was the Boo after Chibi Boo absorbed the South Kaioshin.

In the anime version sparks of lightning surrounded the entire "mountain" where the Z sword was buried when Gohan powers up but since they weren't like those around the aura that indicates Super Saiya-jin 2 nor were they exactly around Gohan himself I'll go with MSSj. However, since no real hint was given on a Kaio-shin's power level except for one, that is, beating Frieza with a single blast, I'll go with the strongest Kaio-shin (south) wielding power nearly equal to Ascended Super Saiya-jinn. No place close to Mastered Super Saiya-jinn Gohan, let alone Majin Buu.
About the resisting issue... If someone is stronger than you by a factor of 1.5x or by a factor of 10x, it doesn't really make any difference. He can still own you as easily. So unless you are implying that South Kaio-shin was around 0.6x Chibi Buu's power, which is certainly more than Majin Vegeta-when East Kaio-shin was astonished at the power base Vegeta wielded-you can't really use how much more one resisted to someone than another to judge how much more powerful the first was than the second.

SSJ2 Gohan was strong enough to lift the Z-Sword but not strong enough to battle Fat Buu. Dai Kaioshin and South Kaioshin individually were stronger than Fat Buu but they couldn't lift the Z-Sword. That doesn't make any sense to me.

What who said the Kaio-shins were stronger than Majin Buu? Even all of them together didn't stand a chance against him. East Kaioshin states it.

this is somewhat off topic but i see a lot of people saying that south and Dia are weaker then SSJ2 because east was shocked at the sayin's strength. In reality it wasn't that east was shocked that there were powers that strong, he was shocked that "Mortals" could wield such powers.
that being said i believe that South and Dia kaishin were on level if not stronger then kid buu. It was the suprise of absorbsion, the same thing that felled Choa Gohan and SSj gotenks, that had them defeated.
