The "Unwritten Rule" Written. (Must-Read for New Members!)
I'm going to put this up for all new members. Once upon a time we used to have MFG v.3. One of the sadder aspects to the forum over there was confusion over one slight little thing we like to call the "Unwritten Rule". For the first time I'd like to set that rule in stone.
It has come to our attention far before my time that when members get into heated discussions over the DBZ universe, many sordid things tend to happen. As most of us were introduced to the Anime we tend to let dub script dialogue and Filler concepts (for newguys, "Filler" is anything that happened in the anime and not in the original manga) get into the conversation. The problem is that Fillers are notoriously inaccurate and come from Toei rather than Akira Toriyama himself. In any conversation which involves filler explosions of enmity tend to erupt. "Why didn't Yamcha fight Boo if he could take on Olibu?","Broli is the Legendary Super Saiyan!" and "Wasn't Kid Boo the strongest Boo?" are just a few of the typical post example and subsequent misconceptions. To end this infighting and make the forums as canonically correct (canon, for non-officionados, is the storyline and events Toriyama wrote himself) as possible, only the manga is accepted in this forum to back up arguments and to discuss upon. Filler episodes as well as Filler segments (even the mistakes found in the American dub) are not accepted here.
We're not doing this because we hate the anime. On the contrary. The truth behind the matter is that the overwhelming majority of us would know nothing about Dragon Ball if it were not for the anime. The problem is that when misconceptions float around odd things such as King Vegeta fighting Freeza and Gotenks fighting Boo in his fat form are taken as 100% fact. To put an end to this we use the manga's dialogue here to keep a friendly atmosphere as well as a well-informed one. Please respect our decision and have fun posting!
