Cold never really believed Trunks was that strong, just that he had a "remarkable" sword, thus trying to kill him with it...he knew pretty instantly that he was wrong once Trunks parried barehanded and proceeded to blast the hell out of him anyways, at which point he went from wanting to kill him, to basically offering him a life as his son.*

Frieza at 100% must be stronger than King Cold, which means that Metal Frieza is a bit more stronger than Cold. It has been said that Frieza states he is the strongest person in the universe, and Cold says nothing. If this is not proof enough, then look at what happend....Frieza fought Goku for pretty much a whole day straight, taking many hits and blows and ki blasts including what? One of the biggest spirit bombs ever....King Cold got killed how? By a single ki blast. It's pretty obvious.
As far as how he looks? Well Cooler and Frieza looked very much alike, so I can hardly picture him looking too different from them.

Freeza is stronger than King Cold in any form. End of story. This is because Freeza was in command of the ship and did all the talking.

No he's not. It was stated that King Cold and Freeza [first appearance in the Trunks Saga] were nigh in power. Meaning Cold is most likely greater than Freeza 1st supression. [or in other words his third form]

I look at it this way:
King Cold bares strong resemblance to Frieza's second form... But that means nothing. It's stated that the transformations are used for conserving power for the true form, but if King Cold wasn't in his true form, he surely would have transformed. I really think that King Cold had a couple of opportunities, and Trunks really didn't seem like he would have careed if he tried to transform either. While it may be true that Trunks caught Frieza off guard and only at what I calculate is 2.5, or 50% of his true power. Maybe he took him out quickly because he knew that Frieza was the real threat, and that King Cold wasn't so he even gave hi his sword. |

1: The line where Cooler said "I found" is a FUNimation screwup. It is not supposed to mean that he found this form. He could do it all along.
2: Frieza was not born in his 1st form, because the 1st form is a suppression that he devised to be able to contain his power. The changelings' true form is 4th in Frieza and Cooler's case. 3: Cooler's fifth form was an exception. This form for one was not a suppression, but an enhancement of his true form. Don't be fooled. 4: As King Cold resembled more a suppressed form than a real one, I am inclined to believe that in fact he could transform and had a real form too.

Yes, your 4th point really brings something up. He almost looks identical to Frieza's second form.... But then why didn't he transform? He did have some opportunities to do so. Instead of asking for his sword, Cold could have easily transformed. It was clear that Trunks was confident enough to let Cold do just about anything he wanted, he even gave him his sword.
