Gohan became weaker and out of shape due to the lack of training.

umm gohan wasn't super saiyan 2 then he had only tapped in those powers once and that was at tha tournament against kibito, gohan was probably no stronger than he was when he fought cell b4 ascended 2 super saiyan 2 a form that cell dominated and dabura could barely match cell wins
