Yes. Of course the hair. Read what Duo posted about this topic (unless you don't accept the facts that he presented on this topic). A few he named were the lack of electricty, and how the movie came out before Gohan went SSJ2 in the 23rd WT.

So what with the electricity?! it was a quick transformation and the hair was a proof that he was a SSJ2.

Well the facts are present in the TOEI fact sheet. Everyone has their own opinion. You can choose not to agree with certain facts and go by the normal "hair" statement. The bottom line is electricity is a signature of a SSJ2 transformation...

I know that the electric Auras are a sig of someone being a SSJ2 but still why the hell did SSJ Gohan hold his hand against LSSJ Broly if he is suposed to be a weaker SSJ than he was seven years ago, then how did he put LSSJ Broly a good fight?! he must of being a SSJ2.

Its simple, Gohan is notorious for holding back his true power. In the battle with Dabura he stated "I'm mad but I'm not as angry as I was before", meaning he held back his true power (SSJ2). He held back in almost every fight until he awoke his true Chou state...

Actually, if it's lightning in a transformation that doesn't mean SSJ2. Nappa had lightning powering up. He wasn't SSJ2.

Well the way I see it is during the match between Videl & Spopovich, Gohan goes SSJ and his hair is pretty much the same (With one bang of hair hanging down) as his SSJ2 hair style. So really I don't see why they wouldn't give a LITTLE bit of sparks at the beginning if his hair style isn't any different from his SSJ hair style. Teen Gohan & Goku I can tell are SSJ2s by their hair but Vegeta & Adult Gohan the only thing that says they're SSJ2s are when lightning is around them.

I don't see how people can believe that they were MSSJ in Movie 8. It's quite literally impossible, because the majority of extra power from MSSJ comes from the fact that you can maintain the state and don't have to waste power transforming.

The fact that they transformed means that even if they had learned how to become MSSJ, the energy was spent on transforming, and so they cannot by definition be anything more than SSJ at this point, even if they've learned to master the form.

Hence, Broly's really not that strong. MSSJ Goku was hugely more powerful than Ascendant Vegeta, at least twice as much, who was in turn much stronger than a standard SSJ. Basically, even with all the energy that the others could provide to him, I honestly don't think that Goku's power would have been much over his MSSJ state, once he's given all that extra energy. And then that was enough to totally own Broly with one punch. That's at a level of SSJ2 Gohan vs Perfect Cell, and implies that there was a sizable difference in the power levels. Even if I assume Goku's boosted power was 1.5x his MSSJ level, the fact that he owned Broly so hard indicates to me that he was only ever around 75% of MSSJ Goku's strength, at a maximum, and more probably roughly equal to the power Goku demonstrated to Karin. That's how I see it.

They probably did that for drama but I do agree that they were not Mastered SSJs.

So you think Goku wasn't MSSJ in the Buu Arc?

While I usually agree with you, Vagrant, I have to disagree about that. Goku had to power-up to MSSJ when he was training with 40 tons, against Yakon, and against Vegeta during the Buu saga.

They can still transform into the SSJ form and not have the energy consumption feeling. No one even complains about it, so they can be MSSJ at that point.
