No kind of "reasoning" can put Broly at nearly 4x Goku's power in Movie 8. 1.33x results in two-hits-and-dead. A 4x advantage would be "Broly cannot even be seen, and Goku dies when Broly blinks real hard". That obviously did NOT happen. It didn't come close to happening! Not even in the same ~~neighborhood~~ ~~city~~ state as happening.

That power difference is not possible in any kind of way.

Broly's not fast enough to dodge his spit. Even if it did work, Broly theoratically has regeneration, so he would be cool.

Yes, actually, believe it or not, there is very logical reasoning behind this belief of mine. Broly held back power when he battled them in the baren city. There were numerous times when Goku did not even see Broly coming. Furthermore, towards the end of the fight, we see Goku collecting the added powers of Gohan, Piccolo, and Trunks, and he was still being annihilated until he received Vegeta's power. As I've said before in other threads, Goku had to have been recieving SSj powers in order for him to do any kind of damage on Broly, never mind beat him in one punch. It's just absurd to think Goku recieved lower-than-base energy and defeated Broly. If that were the case, he would at the very most replenish his own power level at best. And that would be a miracle within itself. Even if he did that, he would still be cast aside like earlier. This is why he had to have been receiving SSj energy. He did not "hold back power".

If he wasn't at his maximum his ki would NOT be "overflowing". He was at peak capacity.

The whole point of the movie is that Broly's power is no longer controlled. It's unleashed to its fullest. That's the whole purpose and point of this entire plotline!

I have no objection that Broly's full power was released in Movie 8. But I rest assured, he did not use his full power on every person he combated. His ultimate power was fully unleashed, but that doesn't mean Broly couldn't do what he willed with it.

So, Goku was dead in Movie 8. But wait, why do we keep seeing him?! He gets around pretty well for a dead guy...

...it's because it takes place in no connected way to canon events, that's why.

Which means it's far from "common sense" that they were at their Cell Games power levels, since that whole set of circumstances doesn't exist in the Movie 8 timeline.

And Goku was hungry, which made him weak. Otherwise, Broly would have been beaten. Gathering the ki from his friends just brought Goku's power up to where it would be if he wasn't starving. And he went ahead and punched a hole in Broly. Because he's stronger.

That obviously is an un-deniable fact, but wasn't it stated by TOEI that Movie 8 was taken during the Android saga? Ultimately, there are two facts people generally choose to ignore in this situation. The first, being the one you brought up, Goku being hungry... The second, was stated in the manga. The movie negated the fact that Goku can't absorb ALL of the energy given to him, his body wouldn't be able to take it. Putting both of these into perspective,I would put Goku's power around a 50% MSSJ, comparable to Cell Games 50% Goku.
