Re: In the Japanese version, is it stated that Cooler is weaker than Freiza. . .
In "the original script" Coola states expressly that Goku (base) was enough to beat his brother; not quite sure if he's alluding to Freeza's relaxed state, which Coola might have been more or less on equal footing to or a tad weaker (but I would also say Coola at least had more earthly pride and dulled arrogance in comparison, so basically more astute - but perhaps not appreciated by Freeza until needed when the two were alive in the non-canon anime universe, as an intelligent person would be). FUNimation went ahead and added inserts here and there at whim that had little pertinence with the original script (FUNimation have treated dubbings of anime such as Full Metal Alchemist with much more respect). Not to say it's the VA's fault (despite speaking in broad strokes, but that's for another topic of discussion).
So the statement was - "Enough to have defeated my brother.", after threatening to "crucify" the one who "smeared mud" upon his pride, not that he came to Earth to "avenge his brother" (adhering to Steven J Simmons' subtitles, which we can trust).
