Toei never actually named the form at all louis6578, as the whole "Giji Super Saiya-jin" is a fan term only, what appeared in movie 4 was meant to be the legitimate Ssj form, and what appeared in the filler episode was meant to be his base form. However, neither events turned out the way that Toei wanted them to be (since both are believed by many to be some half way state between base and Ssj).

Actually, page 134 of Daizenshuu 7: DRAGON BALL ENCYCLOPEDIA specifically labels the form as 疑似超サイヤ人 (Giji, or "false" Super Saiyan).

In canon, Giji Supa Saiya-jin doesn't exist.

But in filler and movies it does. There are also several "questionable" instances of possible Giji in Namek Arc eps, and later in the Other World Tenkaichi Budokai arc.

When Trunks was havin a flashback about his training, I think it showed Vegeta surrounded in like a golden aura with black eyes and smoke coming out of his mouth. He looked weird, but I always compared that to the Gigi SSJ.

Oh, I forgot. I suppose it's possible but it might have been an effect of the fire, but it's definatly possible.

In ep 196 he wa actually using some power that he couldn't use unless he went SS, bu he didn't fully transform. So I guess you could say he apped into SS power, but wanted to save some power to surprise people later.
In movie 4, correct Toei was actually trying SS1, but they used FSS as an excuse later on, so technically it does exist but is noncannon.
