So at the end of DBGT he tells Piccolo something along the lines of...
"Don't worry old friend, you'll get out of here soon"
And he says it as if he had control over it or some sort of prediction in his mind.
Was this a result of the dragonballs becoming one with him or just he's a cocky bastard?

I think he's done this sort of thing before in DBZ as well. He's always predicting stuff, I'm not on about his confidence just there are times it seems when he has some sort of other-worldy psychic knowledge about what it going to happen.
Again maybe just a cocky bastard...

Goku is always positive and when he sets his mind to things he really tends to do them, or find a way to do them. That's just my opinion, I like to think that Piccolo got out of there.
