yes you guys are probably "omg not another one" but I noticed something watching movie 8 the other night. If you look at Trunks' hair when he went ssj in that fight, it looks like his ascended Super Saiyan form hairstyle not his ssj hairstyle. So I was thinking maybe movie 8 was set after the ROSAT time of vegeta and trunks or after it.

lol, obviously. The debate is whether it's mid-rosat of Goku/Gohan or post-rosat before the Cell Games.

no there were some people who said it wasn't since it didnt look like goku had mastered Super Saiyan form and neither had gohan but it would explain why vegeta was so slow to get away from Broli after he fired those energy blasts at him.

If they were mid-rosat then there would be no mastered super saiyans.

Trunks hair was like that because it was tied back in a ponytail as it was when he emerged from ROSAT. I think he was just a SSJ.

I believe Gohan and Goku were not MSSJ's either.

Same here, although I do believe Trunks & Vegeta were ASSJs but they were at their levels against Cell.

Then why did his jacket rip apart when he transformed? Surely it's for some plausible reason...

That second picture looks more like Trunks as an USSJ2. Clearly, he was an USSJ in Movie 8.

Well I say Ascended becausse thats what they called it before calling it USSJ2 they even said in the cell saga that trunks ascended that was bore gohan went SSJ2.

I think its just a TOEI error. If you recall, during the Android Saga Gokou goes SSJ and his muscles rapidly expand. I'm sure if he were wearing something made of different material (that didn't stretch) the same thing would happen to him.

A valid point, but why don't we see Trunks' jacket rip apart in Movie 9? He doesn't have the sleeves, but by all means he's still wearing the most part of the jacket, so why doesn't it rip off like it happened in Movie 8? Maybe it does depend on the material. Trunks' tank-top material is flexible enough to withstand the muscle increase, along with Goku's, apparently from what's shown.

Lets take a look...

This is Toranksu in Movie 8 before he ascends. You immediately notice his full jacket. We all know what happens after he ascends...

This is Toransku in Movie 9 when he ascends. Throughout the whole movie, Toransku is shown with the same jacket.

In conclusion, it seems he wears two different jackets, (the one in Movie 8 was reduced to shreds) but of the same style. We can only assume he cut the sleeves off in Movie 9 to reduce the pressure. Therefore, keeping the jacket intact...
