does anybody know when this happened?
and what are your thoughts on Tapion giving trunks his sword at the end,because thats not where future trunks got his sword. You ask,"What?,i thought thats how future trunks got his sword..NO. In the history of trunks everyone is dead by the androids by the time trunks is even 5. im thinking chibi trunks is 8-9 in movie 13,so the death by the androids is causing the scene with tapion giving hi sword to chibi trunks never happening.....seacing to exist in the world of DRagonball Z.

What are your thoughts on this?

It's pretty controversial subject, probably been discussed since the movie came out. I think Toei might've intended it to explain how Future Trunks got his sword but screwed up in doing so.

I think it's likely that it's just a really nice sword. That's what I've always thought. No special significance.

I've always been under the opinion that Trunks made it for himself after Gohan died. But its very possible he made the sword from a Capsule Corp machine.

Well I look at it this way. Though Trunks got his sword from Tapion when he was 8 or 9 in the normal timeline, doesn't mean he didn't get it at a different time in the future. I still think Tapion gave him that sword from the future, but since events are so different from each timeline he may have obtained the sword from Tapion with a different circumstance.

I know, that was a totally different timeline. I dunno why they showed the clips....

Some ideas...
Arguing for:
-Alternatively, I gues we could assume that Tapion came earlier in the future timeline and etc.
Later Tapion probably asked Gohan to kill him to prevent the monster from being complete and he did and had the sword?
And maybe Gohan told Trunks later that if anything ever happens to him, Trunks can have the sword..?

Arguing against:
-We clearly sees the monster was capable of defeating even SSJ3 Gotenks and the sword apparantly can cut the monster and weaken him.
Now, if we assume the sword is the same one carried by Future Trunks, the sword broke on Android 18's head and she is weaker than complete cell,and SSJ2 Gohan.

Sounds like a plothole but let's try and work it out (if possible).

I don't think there is anyway to work this out. The only thing I can think of is that it's a different sword.
