If your confused about Base Goku defeated Super 17 is was for 2 reasons:

1. Goku used an attack that was SOOOO much more powerful than him.
2. Super 17 was open for attack while absorbing energy.

Also Goku had to shoot Super 17 with a Kamehameha after he used the Dragon Fist. So yeah, Super 17>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Base Goku (GT)

If Super 17 is stronger than Kid Goku (GT), why he need absorb energy???
If Super 14 can take SSJ4 Goku, Why was he beaten by Kid Goku???

Because Kid Goku used the dragon fist, which can punch through anything.

Super #17 only lost because his defense was down, and down by a whole lot.

That and the fact that the "Dragon Fist" is an extremely powerful attack just like the Spirit Bomb, Final Flash, Special Beam Cannon and a few others it can hurt/kill enemies who are much stronger than the user.

Exactly.. Super 17 was quite injured so then Goku got the chance to defeat him.. and anyway GT is freakin retard and has so many damn plotholes!

S17 got stronger while fighting, so there is no accurate power level. He beat Goku. Simple. Goku MIGHT've been able to defeat him if he hadn't kept getting so stronger, but there isn't a huge chance of that. Goku was shown as being strong enough to survive, but not strong enough to defeat 17, until 17 got even stronger and stronger and Goku didn't have any chance of getting out alive, so he had to go SS4. If he could sustain SS3, he wouldn't be able to defeat him as he got stronger and stronger, but before his strength increased, I think SS3 Goku could've taken him.
