Filler Fun!
Me and my friend love the short scene where Yamcha wrecks the Lat Pull Down Machine at the local gym when he was preparing for the Androids arrival. The Trainer suggested he do the aerobics class instead lol! We wanted to figure out how much he could squat using our knowledge of working out.
We saw him completely destroy the lat pull down machine. Those machines at a what I call a "soft" gym (Soft - balley total fitness or any big chain gym) can have a weight limit max carriage anywhere from 225 - 250 lbs. I'm going to say he was at a soft gym since girls were doing areobics in front of him. So he demolishes the set which weighs all together 250 lbs. (this includes cables, pullies and pins) The weights cracked which would take at least .8x the amount of weight in pressure to break. All he did was pull forward with his arms effortlessly and without paying attention. So you take 250lbs and multiply it by .8. He can apply 200lbs. of force without trying. Since he wasn't trying I can safely say he was at 10% of his energy. At 100% he could forcively assert 2,000lbs of force. If he could apply 2,000 lbs of force with just his arms than his legs could apply 8,000 lbs of pressure. The reason for this is your legs are generally 4x stronger than your arms. Usually your leg press is 2.5x more than your squat. So you would take 8,000 and divide it by 2.5 and you have Yamcha being able to max out his squat at 3,200lbs.
If you think you can figure out his bench press using this equation than give it a shot! If you came up with a different number than let me know.
