Well it happend within a matter of seconds, and frieza doesn't trust saiyans so frieza may have thought kakarrot was trying to trick him.

Freeza trusted Goku enough to ask him for energy. Maybe that was because he was desperate at the moment?

Yea mr. I want nothing but pease BS...He just wanted to be spared, to get trunks when he least expected it...The villaine always do that just to get the upper hand when the hero at the current time isn't expecting it. Like what frieza did when super saiyan kakarrot flew off to leave the battle, after he gave frieza some if his energy.

If Trunks got stupid for thiose couple seconds, and decided to let Cold leave; Cold would've just destroyed the planet while he was in space. But, he did sound pretty stupid when he was whining. It was funny.

Goku destroyed Cold in the alternate timeline. If Goku had arrived before Trunks, he wouldn't have treated the situation any differently.

Well one year after the kind of battle he had with frieza would change any man inside.

So if trunks had as forgiving as the kakarrot from the frieza saga would have been different.

True. Unfortunately, the earth would've been destroyed, but we know Trunks would never allow a villain to leave. He doesn't posess the sentimental traits that Kakarot does.

So true, good thing vegeta is his father, and after thats revealed and you watch him kill frieza and cold again. you see the vegeta quality there. With cold begging and trunks just startes in his eyes and kills him.
