I have yet to see 2 more DBZ films but from what I can see of the ones I have watch the same old cliches and nonsense keeps happening.

1)Piccolos 'Great Timing'
In the majority of the films we do not see Piccolo until the end of a battle.And his entrances are always the same.Gohan will be in danger,battered yy the enemy (e.g. Android 13 or Broly) .Then as the enemy is about to fire the fatal blast another blast appears out of nowhere to deflect it thus saving Gohan.Lo and behold it is Piccolo.And his entry words are always the same (well mostly no need to argue) "I was passing by" or someting to that effect.And it's not as if he last long either.

2)Goku is an Idiot
Now this is something that actually makes my blood boil!!Goku just lets the enemy hit him.He makes nho real effort to dodge anything and just keeps letting them hit him until his clothes are ripped to shreds.(Now this may appeal to us ladies but after a while it's boring).He just smiles and giggles like a buffoon.
At first I thought it was a tactic,that he wasn't really badly damaged.But no he really is just a moron in these films.This stupidity leads to the rest of his team mates (who are wiped out to quickly anyway) being thrashed.

3) "Give me you energy"
The second point leads straight to this one.Everyone is down,Goku is just a weakly limp lying there and he tells the unconcious warriors to give him their energy.Is it not suprising that they have enough energy to give him the ability to suddenly defeat an impossible foe??Again it always happens.I mean look at the first Broly film.Broly isn't phased at all,Goku gets his energy and defeats him just like that and they suddenly appear in a ship safe&sound. *sigh*

4)There is only Goku
Would it kill the makers to have some of the Z warriors actual in the films and battle?!Now the exception is Tien and Yamhca who did appear on one,but as soon as they went to battle to help Goku...they get hit once and are KO'ed for the whole film.Krilling does nothing but whine and sing badly!!

5)Uh-oh I am Hit So I Must Fall
Vegeta is usually (note I'm not saying all the time!) KO'ed far too early in the game.He is a Super Saiyan and though Goku may be more powerful there are sometimes when Vegeta is knocked out when it's feels as if he could alot longer.Whatever about Vegeta's power i comparison to Goku he could of defeated all those Androids,par 13,in the film Android 13.

6)Family Photo
This rant refers specifically to the Bardock Movie.It IMO would of been nice and more importantly interesting and brillant if we had known more about the Saiyans,well Bardocks family anyway.
I mean there was not glimpse of Raditz in the whole film.Fascia mentions that Bardock should go see his son.But you'd swear that there was no mother to this son or older son at all.
I would liked to of seen Goku's mother.Children get their traits(usually)from both parents.I mean if Trunks hadn't of had Bulma as a mother he'd probably be as bad tempered as Vegeta.
And I believe that Goku's power and selfness also was contributed by,by his mother and it would of been good to show this in the film.

Anyway sorry for this long rant and if anyone does read it all the way hopefully they will see I'm not 'completely' crazy and see where I'm coming from

Though I enjoy most of the movies, you are absolutely right. I think all of these things are best encompassed by (what I consider the worst movie by far) Movie 8 (1st Broli).

Honestly, they could have tried a lot harder to mix things up. I know it seems to be a the "time tested" formula or whatever, but it's part of the reason a lot of non-fans can't take it seriously.

I think the most variety we got was in Movie 12, in which the means to beat the enemy didn't suck, and we got to see Goten & Trunks battle the Nazi army.

Out of all the films I was thinking off that apllied to the cliche,Movie 12 was safe enough lol.I wasn't as 'annoying' as the others.

Son Goku

I agree completly with all those, and another thing that happens alot threw out the movies is Goku comes after everyone got the ass beat. coolers revenge lord slug ect..He does that alot in the show also.

Asside from the TV specials, I felt that emotion was lacking in all the DBZ movies asside from movie 13 (Wrath Of The Dragon). I felt that this movie had an interesting approach. All in all I felt that movies 12 and 13 are better than all the other movies. (I myself like movie 13 slightly more)

Well, Mater Roshi said that Goku was a bad baby when he showed up. Until he hit his head. So, I'm not so sure about that.

I find them humourous, like when the time Piccolo appeared from the water, that actually made me laugh. I hated the bit where Gopku was being pounded by Brolly and actually made a joke and laughed, I cringed at that.

Another thing; the villian is always MUCH stronger than the hero yet time wastes and eventually dies. This is the case with Turles, Cooler and Meta Cooler, Super Android 13, Brolly and Bio Brolly, Janemba and Hildegarn (?)

Maybe I should of stuck with just the power part,but by selfness I meant his Saiyan tributes,aside from the crazy eviliness of course.

movie 12 was kinda cool and funny like when goku and veageta messed up the fusion.......and jeamba was a good enemy...(he had a freaking sword that cut rocks like butter)

Another cliche you should add is that the villain is usually much stronger than the hero but is too stupid to hurry up and kill them. This would also pertain to some of the villains in the canon universe, such as Freiza.

That's very much like most villians in films,especially Jame Bonds films.They take too long either gloating or trying to kill people in a complicated way.Just Hurry up!!

Expect for Broly, Cooler and Janemba.

Broly could smashed them all without worrying, the Editorals wanted to make Goku the REAL legendary Super Saiyan.

The Cooler thing I understand, He was about to destroy the planet Earth until Goku became a Super Saiyan and beat him.

Janemba was in fact trying to kill Goku and Vegeta. He was about to until Pikkon got in his way, if he knew the fusion skill he would kill them all within a heartbeat.
