Now that I got that out of the way, I have no idea what Vegeta was on when he went Super Saiyan for the first time. Could've been the moon and it also could've been an asteriod.

I have a question. Where was Raditz when Freeza blew up Planet Vegeta. And why Bardock didn't mention him on that T.V Special?

Radittsu was most likely on assignment clearing a planet out for Furiiza, and the special was meant to be about Bardock and Gokuu, as Radittsu was already on his own.
