I don't know if they'll be released in Australia or not, but I know that ZStore.com ships worldwide, so if worse came to worse, you could order them from that site and have them sent to you.

I honestly wouldn't reccomend getting these Ultimate Uncuts, unless you want them for the novelty of seeing the uncut footage. The lines are almost exactly the same as they were on the first dubs of those episodes.

Except... ya' know... there's a Japanese track, now, which wasn't available before...

Which is really the main point for most of the fans picking up these re-releases .

That's true, I didn't really think of that. Did the original DVDs not have the Japanese tracks? Or were they simply dubtitled?

[Edit: Oh. Duh. I misread. Nevermind. ;p]

*looks dumbfounded* I've got to admit it's not very often you see me stumped by something but I have to ask when you say there's a Japanese track, do you mean that the Ultimate Uncut series also now released a Japanese track or do you mean something like what the others have like voice and subtitles?

I can't understand you. At all.

The original release of these episodes (Japanese DBZ TV episodes 1-67) were originally produced by FUNimation as an edited English-dub distributed by Saban for syndication American television broadcast, cut down to 53 episodes. These episosdes were released to home-video/DVD as-is, just as seen on television. FUNimation sub-contracted the home distribution of these episodes to Pioneer.

On 31 August 2003, Pioneer's sub-contract ran out, which gave FUNimation the right to release the episodes, themselves. Rather than doing nothing with them, they made the choice to do a proper release of the episodes (just as they'd been doing with the entire rest of the series) with a bilingual DVD release (their own "uncut" English dub, and the original Japanese version translated by Steve Simmons). This means they'd also have to re-record the dub version, since no "uncut" version existed to match up with the footage.

In short, no "uncut" English dub OR Japanese version of these episodes had been released in North America before. This is that version. With the bonus of the amazing Spanish track, which shows what a freakin' awesome and accurate dub is supposed to be.

Yeah, I know all of that. I guess what I was trying to say is if I buy the Ultimate Uncut series, will I get the footage as it was shown in Japan or will I have to set it up to do that by selecting the Japanese Language, and English Subtitles?

EDIT: Okay that confused myself a little there. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is in the Ultimate Uncut DVD do we actually get what they were saying in Japanese? I mean I know Manic said it's just the same crappy lines used by Pioneer but then you said they've made a Japanese Track, so did they redo the Pioneer lines or what?

The Japanese audio is played over the video. There is a translated subtitle track to go with it.

Thanks for answer El_Diablo. I know though that hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to go and get my copy of the Ultimate Uncut Started Box Set.

There is a single video track. You can select between DIFFERENT audio tracks that play on top of the video track. In the case of these "Ultimate Uncut Edition" DVDs, you have three choices:

1) New FUNimation English re-dub
2) Original Japanese
3) Spanish (Mexican) dub

You can watch the video with ANY of the above-listed audio tracks. What's significant about these releases is that the English dub is completely new and re-recorded with FUNimation's own in-house group (yet still mostly uses the same script from the original 1996 dub), has the original Japanese version (which has not yet been released in North America, before), and the bonus of the Spanish dub.

There are subtitle tracks to go along with each one (though the Japanese and Spanish versions share the same subtitle track... the Spanish dub is that accurate and faithful to the original).

Well, as I said to El_Diablo, thanks for the info, and thanks VegettoEX for restating what's already been said. However, besides that maybe I'll have to watch the Spanish Dub as well.
