Mastered Super Saiyan is awesome because the transforming cost on your ki must be unbelievable since they powered up so much from not having it. Gosh, that strain alone must've cut their SS Powers in half.

Super Saiyan is indeed remarkably more powerful without the strain, but its not really a double increase in power. More like 4/3 increase.

Mastered Super Saiyan is probably weaker than Ultra Super Saiyan, probably because of the lack of a great extent of power accomulation. And even more by the fact you never really get to see Goku's potential as a super saiyan in the android saga, except that he was greater than Trunks, but still a great number of years had gone by and he was inflicted by a virus that nearly took his life, which mislead people a bit in thinking Goku was vastely weak. Considering the Zenkai that must have followed, probably explains why he seems so much more powerful + the training in the hyperbolic time chamber.

The Mastering must've unlocked something huge...obviously.

SSJ Vegeta was stated/heavily implied by people besides him to be a bit stronger than Son Goku at his Super Saiyan best, and I don't know if Goku would get a Zenkai from a virus or not.

Aye Zenkai is the power increase saiyans get from near death experiences.

Um unless Goku state's it himself, I am going with Goku w/o virus > Vegeta at super saiyan.

I know Vegeta was training his butt off, but he has a long way to go to match up to Goku still, and he admits it at the end that he will never become as strong as Goku.

The virus near death experience went non-stop, so Goku should be about a good 2 to 3 times more stronger than before.

Piccolo thought Vegeta was stronger...and Piccolo is really a much keener sensed figher than most.

Probably so, but wasn't it also Piccolo that just went with destroying the hyperbolic time chamber instead of trying to go ahead and fight out with SSJ Gotenks.

I know SSJ Gotenks might be weaker than Super Buu, and Piccolo might have realized this, but as been such a "keen" fighter he should have been able to sense that Gotenks was still holding back.

Gotenks wasn't holding back in SSj. There's no way for ANYONE to tell when someone is holding back a transformation.
