Here's some movies that act as missing puzzle pieces for the anime. No, I'm not saying how they could fit into the timeline, but I'm saying that why they need to. These are all theories based on what I found on Daizenshuu Ex's Filler Guide.
Subject A - Dragon Ball Z(eto) Movie 1 - The Dead Zone/Ora no Gohan o Kaese! Okay, these theories are based entirely out of the anime, so please do not bring up the manga. Garlic Jr. exists in the anime timeline for the duration of the Garlic Jr. Saga, which means this movie should have taken place. The reason we ask is, how? Quoting Daizenshuu Ex - This movie could not possibly fit into the anime's timeline for many reasons. Gohan's hair and outfit would indicate that the movie takes place shortly before the appearance of Raditz; it obviously couldn't be after Raditz, because Goku was dead, and Gohan was training with Piccolo. If this had really happened, Kuririn would have known about Gohan before meeting him at Kame House, and everyone would have been aware of Gohan's hidden powers. Goku also has his Nyoi-bô in this movie, which is impossible, because he left that atop Karin Tower. But in conclusion, the existence of the Garlic Jr. saga is simply one giant plot hole, since it is supposed to take place in the main anime timeline, but it is based on a movie that couldn't have possibly taken place in the same timeline. Subject B - Dragon Ball Z(eto) Movie 3 - Tree of Might/Chikyû Marugoto Chô-Kessen Icarus (Haiya Dragon) is actually introduced in this movie, and he's seen many times as a filler character in the anime. A few examples are in the Frieza Saga, Garlic Jr. Saga, Trunks Saga, etc. Quoting Daizenshuu Ex - Goku knows Kaiô-ken and the Genki-dama in this movie, meaning it takes place after his training with Kaiô-sama. At that point, Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Chiaotzu, and Piccolo are all dead. By the time they return to life, Goku is off training in outer space as a Super Saiyan. So, this movie definitely does not fit into the anime's timeline. However, Haiya Dragon only appears in filler scenes within the anime, and some of the other movies. The problem is that he simply should not exist outside of DBZ Movie 3, since that movie takes place in a separate timeline. Subject C - Dragon Ball Z(eto) Movie 13 - Ryû-Ken Bakuhatsu!! Gokû ga Yaraneba Dare ga Yaru In Dragon Ball GT, the sequel anime to Dragon Ball Z, Trunks holds a sword that we speculate is very special to him. Ask why? Quoting Daizenshuu Ex - CONFLICT: In DBZ Movie 13, Tapion passes his sword down to Trunks, explaining the origin of Trunks's sword. FACTS: Regardless of how the movie can fit into the timeline, this is impossible for other reasons. The Trunks who had the sword was the one from the tragic future, commonly known as Future Trunks. Tapion gave his sword to the Trunks from the main timeline, best known as Chibi Trunks. They are two completely different people; Tapion giving his sword to Chibi Trunks could not possibly explain how Future Trunks obtained his sword. Back to the timeline issue, since the events of the movie could never take place, regardless of the fact that the two "Trunks" characters are two completely different people, the sword Chibi Trunks receives cannot possibly be the same sword that Future Trunks receives. Since Goku has died in the alternate timeline (as well as many of the other fighters), if Hildegarn were to come to Earth trapped within Tapion, the world would probably be destroyed; Trunks, alone, would not be able to stand up to such a task (especially since he would only be Chibi Trunks' age during the events... oh, it's so confusing!). The movie is a great way to show how Chibi Trunks gets a sword... but it's not how Future Trunks gets his sword. Presumably, this is the same sword Trunks uses in DBGT. ___________________________________________ Now here's an attempt to fit things into the timeline. Dragon Ball Z Movie One: Goku could have retrieved his Nyoi-bô from atop of Karin's Tower, and then placed it back up there thinking he wouldn't need to use it again after this movie. Krillin not knowing Gohan could have been a side effect from being beat up badly or maybe he had eaten some of the alcholic fruit. Dragon Ball Z Movie Three: This could take place after Goku got out of the hospital but before Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma blasted off for Namek. Tien, Yamcha, Chaotzu, and Piccolo could have used their one day to live to get back to Earth to help Goku, or for another reason. Dragon Ball Z Movie Thirteen: There really is nothing to contradict this movie. It could easily take place after Son Goku defeats Kid Buu, but before the last part of Dragon Ball Z that takes place 7 years later. |

[snip excessively long quoting of DaizEX] Uh... I'd appreciate it if you didn't quote, verbatim, quite so much content off of VegettoEX's and my web site. Thanks. |
