Nah. I think vegeta was a super saiyan 2 before he let babidi put him halfway under his control, that was just to fill the gap of their super saiyan 2 power.

Well would vegeta be so bold about being able to kill Debura if he wasn't a super saiyan 2?
And I could ask you the same about vegeta not being a super saiyan 2.

Good question.
Seeing as how Gohan put up a decent fight with Dabura, I'd say Vegeta wouldn't need to achieve SSj2 to defeat Dabura. As since Gohan was dropped noticeably in power, then Vegeta is pretty confident he is alot stronger than Gohan. Vegeta >>> Adult Gohan >/= Dabura |

I never believed he couldn't attain, just that he hadn't, yet.
Why else would Vegeta, the Saiyan prince, fork over his mind to Babidi? I just find that he'd rather recieve a huge jump in power than a small "filler". |

Yes we could, and better minds than ourselves have bickered for pages about this very subject.
My main evidence comes from the fact that Vegeta did not go SSJ2 directly after or during the Majin possession. He waited until Goku had gone SSJ2 at the World Tournament venue to reveal his usage of the form. This tells me that the powerup didn't cause Vegeta to ascend, just to give him a power boost. Because he could see that Goku was still more powerful than him, and he remembered the only time he had been more powerful than Goku was during their first battle. Back when he was evil. He put 2 + 2 together and got 5.

Not to sound dumb or anything, but it just doesn't seem like much effort to sell your mind for just a "power boost". Though I do understand what Madness is saying, that Vegeta wanted to fight Goku as he once did during the Saiyan Saga.
It just seems like a crappy bargain: Mind slave for power boost, versus mind slave for ascension into a new SSj level. |

But then the question of his body being able to handle that kind of increase in power.
If vegeta had been to attain super saiyan 2 prior to the boast, then his body could handle that...I relize vegeta's body is very durable but I doubt he could handle all of that at once.

Well I would...think about this for a minute, lets say his MSS power was that of gohan cell games MSS only. Then for his power to increase all the way to higher then super perfect cell's power. Thats a huge jump, and one I find to not be physically possible.
