Why is it called Bleach?

I don't feel like bumping or looking at the older version.

If I remember correctly the reason it is called Bleach is narrowed down to three reasons; Ichigo's hair, the purifying of Hollows, or the Nirvana album.

So which is it?

Ichigo's hair. It's pretty much confirmed in an early manga. Ichigo states that he was bullying for his hair; people thought it was bleached.

Thats it as far as I'm concerned.

I think it's a combination of the Nirvana album and the purifying of souls. He chose the name from the Nirvana album because apparently he liked their music and at the same time the album's name signified what was happening in his story. 'Course I don't know if this is true or not but it sounds the most logical.

Perhaps Ichigo's hair is involved being the main character and all but considering his hair's orange and not blond, I'd have to question that one.

Maybe he was just washing his clothes with bleach one day and said 'what the hell, why not?'

A pretty crappy reason that was stated in the manga. Hell, it's a fanslation, but it can't be far wrong, right?

It's a possibility that all three are true.

If Kubo really is a fan of Nirvana, than he might have named it after their album, then threaded Ichigo's hair into that, linking the name with Ichigo and then linking it further with that which Ichigo does.

Clever of him eh?

Naming it after an album is equally as stupid of reason as naming it after his hair. Not to mention bleach is the product used to clean something, it isnt the process of cleansing. Ichigo doesnt throw bleach on Hollows. >_>

Tried to come up with an original name and saw a bottle of Bleach.

I'm thinking the real reason is the fact that his soul, hollows' souls, Arrancars' souls, and other Vaizados' souls have been "bleached" into something totally different than their intended purposes'. I think the "bleached hair" thing was a foreshadowing element that your perspective was about to be changed.

Although, my opinion is probably better than all of yours, because I'm an American.

I think it was all three, though the Nirvana one is news to me. Although, I think the hair issue is a result of Ichigo reading a book on how to become a delinquent.
