That some characters in anime/manga/comics etc. are proud to be evil and label themselves as evil entities. I mean, seriously, what the hell is that? Have you ever met someone retard enough to say he does evil actions just for the sake that these actions serve evil purposes? Isn't completely unrealistic to do bad things just because you want to do bad things. Who's stupid enough to be evil just to be evil. Plus, they give themselves stupid names such as ''The Dark King'' or the ''Evil Samurai'' seriously, what's wrong with them?? Can't they create antagonists and not vilains?? Basically what I want to see is someone who wants to fulfill his goals just like the protagonist but their goals are just opposite and they must fight each other, you could just switch sides and the protagonist would become the antagonist just because their goals isn't about destroying the earth or protecting it.

It's because people find it easy to hate the actual villains that are defined as the very source of evil/the greatest evil in this world. And also more easily brought into liking a "sudden plot twist" that reveals that the Greatest Evil was doing all the evil to protect the world, or so on. Hence, such characters are created. I don't think it is ridiculous.

But, I find it more ridiculous to have characters that are quite opposite to how they are described. I would have to take out one Shoujo manga I tried out, as an example. The main character was defined as "an odd person who collects poisons and is otherwise weird. He is shunned by all and is alone." Something along those lines, yet at the very beginning of the manga he is surrounded by people who adore him.

I just couldn't bring myself to say anything else besides "Wait wut?"

It's realistic enough to use (and evident in today's society). It also is the flip side compared the the heroes and anti-villains, so we get to experience another field of view of the story and it is a catalyst that foments conflicts.

Also Crayne, good point. But still, we aren't retard, I never hated one vilain yet, just because most of them are cooler than the main character. The only ones I hate are the disgusting and inhuman vilains, aside from that, most of them are just too human and too charismatic to be hated.

I guess the charisma is there to make us wonder "Oh, so the good-looking people could be evil as well!"

Or the makers of the series have just run out of ideas and just create another human character. Or there actually was no sign of evil, and in need of a plot twist, the main protagonist's friend or the like needs to be the actual evil. Who just so happened to find the protagonist and tagged along for some possibly pointless reason.

Actually most comics give the villian what is sometimes called the Red Tricicle syndrome. There's always a reason for it. I like villians who are proud of being evil. It's just neat, however, I also appreciate those who are evil and don't think they are.

The Re tricicle thing annoys me the most because most have it.

It's just the simple hero vs villain. It has always been a popular and successful routine. Though, you can always usually find the ultimate bad guy with some sort of haunting past or misunderstood situation crap appearing as well. It's as though they are trying to make it so that no one is actually as evil as they intend.

I tried watching Lucky Shit. I could get to episode... oh the hell do I remember, 7 perhaps. But Lucky Channel 21 was the best part of it.

Lucky Star had a plot? Musn't have read enough of it... the anime made me feel like I'd been on a drug experience.

And... depends on the villain and the context it's used in. Magneto's team was the "Brotherhood of Evil Mutants" but they wouldn't have regarded themselves as evil. I can't really think of an anime version at the moment, so... yeah.
