OK, so basically in the manga series once a Pokemon receives a fatality type move it's dead?

@Raven: Depends. I remember one of Giovanni's Scyther slashed through another Pokémon. There were also a few other instances that escape me. But no, not all die. They faint from exhaustion, are knocked out, surrender, etc.
@Astner: It's been awhile, and my old source quit on me, but do ya got any online links to the manga? PM them.

I've (somewhat) liked the manga myself, since before "Mysterious Mew" was released in the states, and I had like up to volume 6 in the original where Red shows up again and I was left with this big(?) cliffhanger but moved and was... "deprived" of the manga for a while. I came back to it when the shit was still in the RS saga, and I gotta say... decent stuff. Better plot, better fighting (since we actually have a little more than the thunderbolt-teamrocketblastsoffagain bullshit for 5,000 episodes >_>), actual homage to the games, and the way that almost everything from before and the stuff from the games always playing a part in one way or another... yeah, so it's a hell of a lot better than the show, for sure, and I wish they'd have avoided tarnishing Pocket Monsters' reputation with making an underfoot toddlers' anime that rehashes the same redundant-as-fuck formula for maximum the money-ness and Ash and his band of... recreants on... yeah, I'll stop just about there for now.
the RGB era, decent artwork, better plot, a bit redundant with the Poliwrath-getting-fucked by everyone and his twilight twin, but that aside, pretty good three-volume adaptation off the three ol' school regular Gameboy ownage from back in the day. Viz did indeed butcher a lot of the dialogue (Fuck, all the chapter titles which were vs. ____ getting replaced with name puns? Art of Articuno? Zap! Zap! Zapdox??!? Wut? Not to mention Green-Blue and You haven't "Seed" nothin' yet?) and some content and mild swears, but it's no longer they ran out of budget... they spent more time trying to concoct the name puns than they did actually trying to retain the originals' feel. Yellow, complete crap, homages to the stupid show adaptation and just.. more or less a redundant excuse to keep the manga on CPR until Gold/Silver came out, predictable ending, shitty artwork, and even the story is crap here. But at least it led to the first great arc (and arguably last, what with the Emerald/Battle Frontier sucking as bad as it does), GSC, which while due to Mato being, well, pretty ill (or so was the excuse for everything sucking except the covers), looks just like an average game-to-shitty-comic adaptation, but starting at 10 and lasting to about 14, it picks up, introduces actual likable characters and adds personality to them, the plot is on much grander scale than before (hell, even Yellow's straw-hat ornaments play in!), and even though it still does spam a lot of icy crap (what, the expanding ice-cuffs weren't enough for ya? Pryce having his whole body as Mask of Ice? Gold and Silver getting frozen and gone missing, AGAIN?) from the crap arc before... it's still a hell of a more likable and engaging adaptation than the show ever will, and at some points I really thought this was even better than the second-generation games (also the best of them, btw). It's downloadable, on Mangatraders, as translated by Chuang Yi, a Singapore manga lilcensing group, so the translation and flow ain't too good, but the originals are far, far better. My reccomendation? Read it, if you can get past, well... Yamamoto Satoshi. >_> RS.... generic start, good at some points, but, for the most part... crap, just like the third-generation games at this point. The tomboy-knitting****** shit and how it was (given an attempt to be) explained in volume 21 was, well... crap, and how Red/Blue orb-Ruby-Sapphire stones and the birthstone thing was... predictable, and what's worse, it led to FRLG, which, like I said with Yellow, was... crap. What's worse, the price over here from 23-25 went up by nearly a third, and they didn't even flip properly, unlike before, but eh, my brother still bought it, and I keep it in my room, but... definitely, whilst being infinitely better than Yellow and most of RS, since it shows Giovanni-on-fire (I'd also link to Mewtwo-impaling from Attack Deoxys, but it seems that one expired), it's still all pretty good. The Pokedex-holders-now-stone shit... crappy ending, and how the hell can Saiki survive being Explosion'd at that close range, when the Pokemon move has a power of 250??! Now, battle frontier/Emerald... COMPLETE SHIT. I only bought 27 for the 10-year anniversary goody, and from how it's been so far, not only being an ENTIRE arc on some crescent-shaped midget and his falling shoes conquering those "Brain" characters with no personality other than the attribute they're based on, but also Guile being... well, some electrocuted punk who put on an assfucked set of armor and suddenly became FUCKING INUYASHA AI KAZENOKIZUYUBIATCH... again, shit. I think I made a good decision not buying 28 (though I'd have all of the ones released to date if I did, TAKE THAT CHIBI!), even though it does feature the return of Ruby and Sapphire, now... albeit, in... uh, red-and-blue versions of their Emerald outfit change. WTF? Diamond/Pearl... haven't read it in full, so I can't have much of an opinion on it, but... just crap from what I've seen, just like the games have been since 2002. Though, how it's yet to see volume coverage a YEAR after even the American port of those two came out is a bit infuriating, since I don't like to buy magazine ones, though this happened with FRLG and Emerald too, how both of them needed to have Ruby/Sapphire finished first because it goes in the order the games were released: Red/Green/Blue-Yellow-Gold/Silver/Crystal-Ruby/Sapphire-FireRed/LeafGreen-Emerald-Diamond/Pearl/?. Just skip 29, for god's sakes, and pick up at 30 so those THIRTY fucking chapters lying in underneath the bunkbed can see some volume form over A YEAR AND A HALF after the first chapter was released alongside the games. Then stop at where it is now, complete Emerald either through the magazine or the Wonderland issues, then put in a sneaky little Also, valuable link, good info off Coronis (much better than the crappy site the FUCKING CREATORS MADE THEMSELVES, JESUS), minus some errors in Emerald's profile. And yeah, the Green-to-Blue and Blue-to-Green change was stupid, and hell, it even contradicts the trade that Red and Green/Blue have later to fit the FireRed and LeafGreen theme which telepathy-Mewtwo even makes a comment about. Probably why volume 25 took so long to get released in English, since the homage would be a tad... well, subtle if the character's called Blue, and is using a Grass Starter. >_> |

'm reading the manga at the moment. It's alright. It doesn't hook me like any other manga does.
