According to someone (I don't remember their name), they said, according to the original lines of Piccolo or something, the skinny, gray Majin Buu was a manifestation of wrath/rage/etc. He was an incarnation of emotions. Vegeta and everyone else weren't idiots to assume Majin Buu could became consumed with emotional turmoil and spawn another Majin Buu, and I doubt it was brought up for kicks and giggles.

Besides him getting angry over ice cream? (Dunno if that was filler in anime) He was never exposed to the situation again anyway; and one could argue that he was already innocent, in a sense, after absorbing the grand supreme kai and that he didn't understand that murdering was wrong until he met Hercule.
