And instead of Goku and Pan fighting them off, allow the Z fighters to split into different teams and fight each dragon.
So something like...
1 star shenron - Gohan, Vegeta and Pan trying to help
3 star(ice) shenron - Gotenks and Majuub
4 star(nova) shenron - Goku(the 4 star dragonball, come'n!)
5 star - Yamcha, Krillin (and Gotenks helping out?)
6 star - Piccolo(yes, don't let him die), and may be Gohan coming to help?
7 star - Future Trunks, (then may be Vegeta/Goku helping out?)
And leave the nova and 1 star dragon at the end where everyone tries to help and defeat them.
...just an idea...

And... Let Fujure Trunks be married or something and his child is then born, and Future Bulma comes back in time to tell the good news and then found Future Trunks dead and goes crazy.
And etc etc and near the end when they defeated the dragons and etc, we have a scene of Future Trunks' child playing in a field or something and looking happy even though he/she has never seen his/her father(like the beginning for Goten).XD

Just ideas..XD And yeah, I liek to focus on emotions, bcos DBZ is a bit "shonen overload" with all those power business. =D
