I think it's a combination of the Nirvana album and the purifying of souls. He chose the name from the Nirvana album because apparently he liked their music and at the same time the album's name signified what was happening in his story. 'Course I don't know if this is true or not but it sounds the most logical.
Perhaps Ichigo's hair is involved being the main character and all but considering his hair's orange and not blond, I'd have to question that one.
Maybe he was just washing his clothes with bleach one day and said 'what the hell, why not?'
