I see some madarame fans here and sorry to disappoint you all but SHODAI is the GREATEST NINJA OF HIS TIME HE > MADARAME.

madarame even said so himself read 398 ffs He also states he is the only ninja he ever admired so to him shodai is the greatest ninja of all time so this questions your theories on the weak "strengths" of back then compared to the present.
