Now, if he absorbed South Kaioshin, anything could have happened. South Kaioshin might have been weaker but he boosted his power a lot.
Both seem possible to me, though it would much rather say the second one. I just dont think that kai's were that strong since they would probably pull out the Z sword earlier.
