Default Re: MFG Chronicles v.2

My threads are so winful they automatically create temporal paradoxes. And who knows, maybe the good ol' book keeper is in fact the notorious demon warlord Vivi... Anyway, this is the last post for today. I'm gonna continue tomorrow.

"Hey... Auraya?" Adamene said reluctantly. The girl's head jerked up, the book she had been holding in her lap falling on the floor. She was not particularly pretty - her black eyes were a bit too big, and her curly black hair that fell over her shoulders didn't really fit her face. Adamene glanced at the title of the book on the floor, which read "Cures and Medicines for Sick Animals". One look at Auraya's eyes told him she had been crying.

"Oh... hi, Adamene." Auraya muttered, settling back to her chair. "You're leaving today, right?"

"Yeah..." Adamene frowned suspiciously. He and Auraya had been close friends for almost ten years now, and they had grown pretty tight, but he doubted she'd be crying so much just for him going away for some time. "What's wrong?" He asked.

"Oh, it's... nothing, well, my dog fell ill, and mom says he'll die... we tried everything, but nothing seems to work..."

"Oh, that's... horrible." Adamene tried to comfort her. Auraya was really close with Gust, her dog, which she had found as a puppy two years ago. "Didn't you find anything in that book to help?"

"No..." She muttered, gathering up the book and dusting it off with her hand. "The doctor says there's nothing to do but to ease his pain... I thought of going to the old lady and ask her, but mom wouldn't let me."

Adamene frowned again. If Auraya was willing to visit the Old Hag, a person rumored to have been a witch and worse in her earlier days, whom noone dared to disturb much less try to chase away even now, she must be really desperate to save her pet.

He carefully weighed it in his mind. He should be leaving soon, and he did not really feel like visiting the old witch. But he didn't want to leave Auraya like this, and somehow his imminent adventure had made him bolder than before.
