Default Re: L vs. N! Ryuuzaki vs. Near! Lawliet vs. Nate River!

Ohba (or maybe Obata) said in an interview that Near and Mello had not surpassed L individually.

Near: "What would L do? I must think like L. I must be L. I can never succeed L."

Near started off with quite a bit of information
On top of that, L is simply more unique and believable as a character. Near sorta reminded me of Hitsugaya, and I did not enjoy that. L's death only adds to his appeal. Going by the info quoted, L is superior, and would have probably remained superior for awhile. Near's only purpose was to steer the series away from becoming a boring chronicle of Light's rise to goddom.

L was Light's true downfall, even beyond death.
