And a super-quick thing I wrote like ... a few weeks ago:

To be a Performer
Is to laugh and to cry,
But feel emotionless.

Is to be in pain,
But never show it.

Is to work hard,
But remember it doesn't pay.

Is to pool all your hopes and dreams,
But allow them to be shattered.

Is to love thyself on a roll of film,
But regret staring in the mirror.

Is to always think yourself the best,
But remember, that you mean nothing.

Is to play a saint,
But act a monster.

Is to desire,
But never obtain.

Is to dance yourself to painful tears,
But bandage the bleeding feet and continue.

Is to think you know someone,
But uncover their true being.

Is to smile, when you hear the parts to be played,
But to cry, when you realise you will always remain,
That girl, forever dancing in the chorus line.
