I'd say those two reviews are more co-signed with your opinion than those of my own but neither one of them is great to me (unlike the likes of movies like Predator, Alien, Terminator, etc...great works of sci-fi). I enjoyed the movies and minimally they are enjoyable but maybe something significant was just missing from the plot. =/
I didn't think The Day After Tomorrow was that bad. Besides, they got the water overflowing city idea right, it is what would happen. Imagine the states as a bowl in a sink with a stopper in it. Keep pouring the water in the sink and eventually it'll go into the bowl. Maybe a bit off but everyone here can comprehend the example.
