Yes, Koivu would deserve the cup. Long great career, comeback after cancer... But there's one Finnish player who deserves the cup more than Koivu IMO. Teppo Numminen. Too bad that Buffalo didn't make it to the play-offs.
But then again, there's so many great players in NHL who had played long career without winning Stanley Cup and would deninitely deserve it. But only very few of those will win it. You probably remember Ray Bourque. He played his first NHL season 1979-1980 in Boston. He played there 19 seasons and became one of the most respected players in league (ever). But he never won the cup. Early 2000 Bourque requested a trade ,so he would have a chance to win the cup. He was traded to Colorado. He played there an year and a half and 2001, he finally won the cup.
