I was gonna say the same thing. I don't think Goku would have went SSJ unless he felt it would at least even the fight out. I'm not of the notion, as others are, that Vegeta stopped training in between Z and GT. Theres no way he'd ever stop training and trying to be equal or better then Goku. The fact that Goku knew his SSJ would at least be equal to Vegeta's SSJ, the fact that Baby's power surpassed that of SSJ3 when he possessed Vegeta, and the fact that Vegeta was able to control and maintain the power of SSJ4, even though never being SSJ3, I think shows that he trained between Z and GT. And that his "powered up" SSJ was at least equal to Goku's normal SSJ state.

90% of DragonBall fans detest DragonBall GT. If you're one of the 10% of fans who actually like GT, post this in your signature.
A direct quote from Akira Toriyama himself on DragonBall GT:
"I enjoyed the show, felt it captured the "Dragonball soul", and was pleased with the conclusion." - Haha, bitches!
