When the PS2 launched. There was no reason to get one. PS1 was a much better console, more games, and it was completely better. HOWEVER the PS2 surpassed the PS1 is time. Just now to start. I am saying. The PS3 will pick up the same way the PS2 did.

The PS2 picked up around a year after it's launch, though.
The PS3 has not and the system is too expensive to actually make a game for it that actually takes the full potential of it, which just makes things worse. The only worthy titles coming are Metal Gear Solid 4 and Resident Evil 5, the later one is coming out in, what, 2009?

Both seem a pretty equal amount, however I'd say so far the Wii has more variety when it comes to their major hits, really, and offer more quality games than the PS3 does so far.
Neither beat the shitload of titles on the 360, though.
