They're merely a basis to help us draw some conclusions. For example, we can clearly see Kimimaro greatly surpasses Sasuke in speed so one couldn't say that Sasuke has the advantage in speed as part of their argument. Also, it's not a good idea to include "luck" in a debate over who'd win in a fight because then you start to get comments like "What if Konohmaru was
really lucky and a meteor from space hit Itachi?". Neither should strategy / preparation be included, unless specified by the topic starter, as it would just be handing down a huge advantage to one team.
