Also, Chibi Buu absorb someone weaker than SSJ2 Gohan for absolutely no reason and yet he becomes stronger than Shin Buu and his power multiplies.
They didn't say he didn't try they never said he did try. If he tried the sword would have been removed, if he was weaker than a SSJ2 it doesn't make any sense at all since there is no canon basis to prove he was wekaer than a SSJ2 while there is more than enough proof to think he was on par with at least a SSJ3.
