the west Kaioshin knew the south Kaioshin perfectly well. Yet he was surprised by Gohan's power. I think that explains that Gohan SSJ2 > South Kaioshin
And if the sword really is that hard to pull I doubt it budged nearly enough to give Gohan any special advantages
