In chapter 213, Kimimaro's finger bones broke through Gaara's sand. In chapter 215, Kimimaro takes a direct Sand Coffin. In chapter 215, Kimimaro takes the Desert Avalanche. In chapter 216, Kimimaro takes another direct Sand Coffin and proceeds to shatter it. In chapter 216, Kimimaro shatters Gaara's absolute defense.
