Hm. Part I of Chapter I or a fiction I'm writing.

Oh, and it's narrated, btw.

At the turn of the last century, Reproda Lucidus was a superpower. It thrived as a city-state - the city itself rising from the horizon for miles upon miles. It held total control of the economic standings in our multiverse. Its military influence knew no boundaries. However, the pendulum of power began to sway to neighboring forces. The foundation of Reproda Lucidus began to crack. Within time, it gave way. Conflict grew from this weakness. Our enemies, as well as our allies took to the field against us. In an effort to maintain the prestige it held for hundreds of years, Imperialist Reproda counter-attacked with millions upon millions of soldiers from hundred upon hundreds of fronts. For years, battle raged on. Neither force budged. However, another threat loomed. Financially, Reproda was crumbling. The treasury became empty, and from the inside out, Reproda fell. Despite such, word was never let out. Propaganda blinded the middle class into believing lies. Within time, peace came as salvation for the bankrupt dynasty.

But to understand cause and effect, background knowledge is needed.

The city began as a totalitarian superstate. In this regime, there was the Master Baron. Beneath him were his puppets, otherwise known as his Court and Councils This single man directed the actions of industries, branches of the military, and even the heart and soul of the individuals with his walls. Reproda Lucidus, his nation, was divided into four key districts. Each distinct was led by a governor of the Master Baron. At the very heart was the Quad-District Transit System - a multi-level complex where train ways, subways, busing, and airships were organized. With each district being multiple miles in length, such a complex was needed for the thousands of civilians to further the growth of his nation. The military was directed by Master Baron’s top strategists, men who have very rarely seen the light of day, Through a series of computer systems, training programs, etc, the rigorous tasks of planning became a hindrance of the past. At his command, legions of trained officers were given the most efficient tactics with the most advanced weaponry. This weaponry came from the private sectors of Master Baron’s industry. Everything from rations to harvesting metals were under direction of his officers. However, what happens when such a militaristic society slows? What happens when the government can no longer hold responsibility for a nation?

As the war progressed, government posts were sold to the highest bidder. Stocks became an efficient method of raising funds. Soon, industry upon industry was operated by the wealthy. Master Baron lost most of his status within a series signatures. With the collapse of his majesty’s regime, capitalism took the initiative. Businessmen became more fluent in a land where everything belonged to a single man. To many, it was an act of benevolence. To those who understood the situation, it was a last, desperate act before the walls of Reproda became crashing down. Instead of resolving the threat, Master Baron merely redirected, prolonged the life of Reproda. In all honesty, even he had little faith in his own nation. That man, he knew it was coming.

War.
