Almost every "great QB" is a so-called "product of a great team". It's because the two go together. There are very few good QBs that are on "bad" teams. That's because when your team has a great QB, they win a lot of games. Almost every horrible team out there is in that situation because of poor QB play.
And it's a popular myth that Montana was carried by the greatness of the 49ers, to begin with. He was drafted to a 3-13 team! In other words, his team sucked. It improved when he stepped into the lineup. It got better when Jerry Rice arrived....after Montana already had two rings without him.
Aikman was good, but he was just there to not get in the way. His production was "meh", at best. He wasn't the focus of his team, and he didn't take the team on his back. His job was to hand the ball off, mostly. Just like Brad Johnson.
