Also, he obviously meant Super Saiyajin 2 and beyond which DO strain power. Like SSJ3 (Which was so incredible Goku had to be DEAD to use it properly). I'm sure Goku didn't think the fusion would be so incredible he wouldn't need anything more than regular Super Saiyajin. Even Piccolo trained the boys to start off that way so that he would not "take any chances". That's...common knowledge?

And IMHO, the fusions actually reinstate the strain even while MSSJ.
