Default MFG Policy Updates

In response to user feedback, I'm happy to announce several important policy changes for the MFG Forums:
  1. The forum doesn't have a lot of rules (there are actually only 10 of them), but the rules we do have should be taken seriously. If you've never read them before, or if it's been a while, please take a moment to review them: MFG 5.0 Anime & Manga Forums - FAQ. Recent changes include:
    1. Removal of the less-than-four-word posts rule
    2. Removal of the double-post rule
    3. Addition of a specific rule regarding spam
    4. A more detailed description of the different actions that can be taken when rules are broken. In particular, there is a difference between things that are "strongly discouraged" and those that are to be "avoided" or that "aren't permitted"
    5. The rules are now numbered. Mods who feel so-inclined are encouraged to quote a specific rule number when taking moderator action against a post or a user.
  2. Several slight variations of the rules apply to the MFG Lounge and the Text Games forums only:
    1. Moderate spam is tolerable. Extreme or annoying spam is still not allowed.
    2. Friendly flaming and trolling are allowed (there can sometimes be a fine line between friendly and not-friendly flaming and trolling, so caution is advised)
    3. Moderator action in these forums should tend to be more member-driven and less pro-active. If an issue comes up that requires moderator attention, please report the post or send a PM to a mod.
    4. Moderate bending of the rules is acceptable, on a case-by-case basis, based on the best judgement of the staff. The rule of thumb here is: "if it's not hurting anyone, it should be allowed".
  3. In forums other than MFG Lounge and Text Games, the rules will be more strictly enforced.
I hope this makes sense. Feedback is welcome.
