The lightning engulfed aura was encircling Vegetto in but one panel, during the initial transformation. Throughout the rest of the chapters, from the very next panel where he sends Boo's ki ball hurdling back towards him to his absorption by Boo, he demonstrates only a normal, fire-like, SSj aura. Thus, a SSj was what Vegetto transformed into and remained in throughout the fight.
