I don't want to be disrespectfull, but...lulz.

1) Chi is the essence of the soul. Soul and spirit are sometimes synonomous.
2) Is released "from the body", almost like sneezing.
3) Certainly used offensively in DBZ
4) The dub often uses the term "energy" interchangably with ki.

That's what ki is. Stating chakra as "pure energy" makes it similar to other energy sources in so many other anime (Shaman King's mana/furyoku, Yu Gi Oh's Ka and Ba, Yu Yu's "aura", etc. They can all trace their origins, in one way or another, from the same source: Monotheism and the belief in souls. I'm not saying there ISN'T a difference, just that you acting like Vegerot would be a dumb shit. And. Again. He'd handle it.
