At that point, the only way to stop the Genjutsu is to stop the flow, then reverse it. However, this is stated, not proven. Naruto, who has just about limitless energy, tried this trick on Itachi, and not only did it do little of...anything, Itachi stopped him from concentrating by having him torn up by hundreds of shuriken. Then he made him start choking himself and seeing his friends growing out of his body like tumors to insult him. :/
Sharingan can also resist Itachi's Genjutsu, but Itachi has Sharingan as well, and even a higher form called "Mangekyou Sharingan", which is like the "Super Saiyan" of Sharingan (Frieza Arc; not the whored-out Super Saiyan forms that became available to eight-year-olds later on).
Itachi stated that only a true Sharingan user can defeat him. And since regular Sharingan might as well be nonexistant when used against him, this implies that he means a Mangekyou Sharingan user.
Another little fun fact to choke on: We know Itachi can control time, space, and mass within the Tsukuyomi. However, we later see that the Mangekyou Sharingan can also manipulate space and mass in the real world, so there's no telling what kind of other God-like abilities Itachi can pull out of nowhere.
EDIT: Yeah, it's an AMV. I don't care. THIS is what happens when you fight Itachi:

1) Vegerot doesn't have chakra. If you want to talk up discussion of their differences then you also have to include that each universe has their own laws.
Even if Vegerot could be influenced by chakra so what? He can handle
300 mutha-trucking g's. And if he tried to alter his "chakra" (irrefutably similar to chi) Vegerot could suppress his power-level. Total Chi-control is learned waaay back in the Vegeta saga. It can be increased or decreased sporadically. And when it's time to get serious they can release it "in one tremendous burst". They can even do it while
Super Saiyajin.
2) ^IFF those points are n/a, then Vegerot has instant transmission.
3) "...'Mangekyou Sharingan', which is like the 'Super Saiyan' of Sharingan (Frieza Arc; not the whored-out Super Saiyan forms that became available to eight-year-olds later on),"
You boned yourself here

Kakashi was what, ten when he got his sharingen...? And Itachi was young too.
4) Huh? It doesn't imply that. The statement means unless you are far more superior you cannot defeat his techniques. Fight fire with fire. Why would you need to go through all that shit to get a mangekyou
then master it and you
might beat him...? Those rules are not universal and are thus n/a to DBZ universe. Were we to speculate you need a mengekyou then Sasuke's fate is already known :/
5) When was Itachi affecting the real world??? Srsly, I think some of your points are b.s-spun.
