After traveling through time to give Goku his medication, the fight with Cell and the Androids, and encountering everyone of the past; you'd think his world would change once he returned to 'the future', now that everyone in the past has battled and defeated Cell and the Androids.

The reason I am confused is, why has nothing changed in Mirai Trunks' time? Everyone is still gone, the Dragonballs are still non-existent, Cell is still alive (well, not for long) along with the Androids, and the world is still in ruins...

Am I the only one confused by this?
